Andy Johns (00:00:00): There are day-to-day stresses that are normal and we just have to put up with, but then there's the other stuff that's the flashing red alarm. Again, you can go back to animals. It's like when their fundamental functions, when their core behaviors of diet, exercise, playfulness, socialization, sleep, when those things get disrupted, it's a sign that there is something going on here that you need to take a look at. (00:00:27): So the same is true with people. If your sleep always sucks, if your relationships are constantly strained or frequently strained, if your physical health is failing, there's so many ways that that can be measured. So there's really no excuse for that to say, "Oh, I just didn't know." I'd say it's to look at those things. When those are suffering or when they're really out of whack, it's undeniable that there is something that is detrimental to your wellbeing that's going on right now, and your body is telling you, "Stop. Something needs to change." After a lot of internal reflection and hard self-work, he changed his entire life's path to becoming a mental health advocate and helping burned out high achievers and also veterans with their mental health journey. (00:01:48): In our conversation, Andy shares his personal story, what true burnout looks like, and when you should pay at...

🚀 Career & Leadership

A sequential framework for healing deep emotional wounds and rewriting one's identity. The process moves from the catalyst of pain through the difficult work of self-discovery, leading ultimately to a fundamental shift in how one relates to oneself and others.

Core Principles

  • 1.Change rarely happens without the catalyst of suffering.
  • 2.Healing requires uncovering the uncomfortable truths of the past/subconscious.
  • 3.Understanding the root cause allows for forgiveness and self-love.
  • +1 more...

"First, you begin with suffering, and then second, you seek the truth for your suffering... you begin to experience and to practice self-compassion... and then that's when you move to step four, which is compassion towards others."

🚀 Career & Leadership

A philosophical shift from viewing life as a series of mountains to conquer (achievement-based) to viewing it as a river to navigate (intuition-based). It emphasizes surrendering control, trusting the current of life, and quieting the analytical mind to follow signals rather than rigid plans.

Core Principles

  • 1.Stop fighting the current; resistance leads to drowning.
  • 2.Adopt 'Mummy Mode': lean back and let the water carry you.
  • 3.Quiet the intellectual planning mind to hear intuitive signals.
  • +2 more...

"Instead of pursuing my life now as a mountain to be climbed... I'm instead trying to float down river... It's possible that there's something amazing for us downstream so long as we're willing to surrender."
